427 Cobra CSX3193 -
History (continued)

The real start of it all for me. Although looking a little sad in this photo taken shortly before its purchase, CSX3193 was quickly authenticated as an original 427 Shelby Cobra. A price was established and the owner said that it would take a few days to locate all of the "pieces". The following weekend the car showed up at our place and its been a part of the family ever since.

A few shots of the car as we purchased it; an original 427 engine with dual four barrel carburetors, a non functional hood scoop and non-original side pipes.

The following photo should be captioned "How am I going to explain this to my wife".

We were living in a small apartment when the owner delivered the car to us. I immediately started working on some of the "issues" in the less than spacious garage.

It quickly became evident that the cosmetics were more than I was prepared to tackle. Off to the shop went 3193 to get some minor body work and paint. Keep in mind that at this time, the Cobras were still not much more than old race cars, so spending huge dollars on paint and restoration were not in the cards. The following photos show the car after the body work and ready to head to the paint booth.
